Vintage 1914 Century Dictionary - 9" Thick -1908 & 1930 Books Included for sale in Carpinteria, California

For sale is a collection of classic dictionaries - 2 of 3 over 100 years of ages.

"THE CENTURY DICTIONARY" of AN ENCYCLOPEDIC LEXICON OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. This is the last printing, and was made in a one volume edition and just in 1914.

NY.-- one of the biggest encyclopedic dictionaries of the English language.
-- consists of 7046 pages, and the supplement brings the total amount to over 8500 pages.
-- over 500,000 entries.
-- 10,000 wood-engraved pictures.
-- printed on uncommon and coveted India paper.
-- pages are just.0015" thick.
-- Dimensions: 91/4"T x 121/4"W x 83/4"D.
-- Weight: ~ 26 pounds.

The condition is wonderful - all pages exist & wale corduroy cover is lovely. The binding is solid. Only 3 pages (to the back) from 7000+ have actually separated from the binding but are still present. As far as I can see there are no observable markings in the book.

"12,000 WORDS OFTEN MISPRONOUNCED: A Revised and Enlarged Edition of 10,000 Words Often Mispronounced" by W.H.P. Phyfe. This was printed in 1908.

The condition is excellent - all pages there & attached however front cover has some damage (see pictures). The binding is strong.

"WEBSTER DICTIONARY: 40,000 Words" by E. Edgar Miles. This is a "Vest-Pocket Library" and consists of a Dictionary, Parliamentary Manual, Expert Calculator, & Etiquette in one volume.

The condition is reasonable to great - all pages exist & connected but cover definitely shows signs of use (i.e., being in someone's pocket). The binding is strong.

These are gorgeous historic collectibles and/or conversation pieces for any house, workplace, school, etc. They are virtual time capsules in text.
